 What Do You Do if the Humidifier in the Grow Room Breaks?

A humidifier is responsible for such an important function as keeping the right level of moisture in the grow room. But what if it suddenly breaks? How do you fix it and how do you maintain the right atmosphere for your weed while it’s being fixed? Here are some ways of getting out of trouble if the humidifier for weed breaks.

Priority 1. Let It Grow

We don’t know how much your humidifier costs. Hardly is it above $200, and chances are it’s much cheaper. On the other hand, even if you have only four big plants, the crops will be much more precious. That’s about 5.2 oz (150 g), for at least $200/oz; do the math! Anyway, it’s way more than the humidifier costs. Okay, you won’t love it, but the quality may reduce dramatically. So, you should, first of all, preserve the conditions for the plants. How do you do it?

The most economic way to do it is the following:

  • Buy a standalone hygrometer (if you don’t have one) and the cheapest hand atomizer. Don’t search for it on Amazon or elsewhere online. A local brick-and-mortar store is just for such a situation.
  • Install the humidifier in your grow room (again, if not yet)
  • Control the humidity manually unless your humidifier is fixed or the replacement one arrives.

It’s better to have a smart humidifier that connects to your smart home system. If you don’t have it yet, that’s the right moment to think about it. The first thing to set up there is notifications if the humidity falls below the minimum level for the current stage.

Priority 2. Get the Humidifier Fixed

Now that you have provided about the same humidity that the plants require, it’s time to take care of the humidifier. Here is what you can do about it.

  • Bring your humidifier to the service. There, they can diagnose it and either fix or replace it. Of course, chances are better if your warranty hasn’t expired. It may be an unofficial service; if so, repairment won’t be free anyway, but at least you’ll get the thing functional again.
  • If there is no service centre in your area, contact the seller and request a replacement. Maybe you will rather need certain replacement parts and the manual for fixing the problem.

If you are tech savvy, you can try fixing it yourself. But we only recommend it if:

  • You can detect the problem yourself;
  • You have all the necessary tools for fixing;
  • The humidifier is off the warranty.

If so, the risks of DIY fixing are minimal. If any of these isn’t the case, the result may turn out to be a disappointment. Remember that while you’re doing it, the crops should be still taken care of.

Another way to act in this situation is to obtain a new humidifier as soon as you learn about the problem and get the old one fixed. Not the cheapest solution. But if it works, you’ll get two working humidifiers. A great result if you want to handle such a situation easier should it happen in the future, or plan to create another grow room.

Priority 0. How to Prevent Problems with Your Humidifier

In the end, here are the tips that will help you keep your device functioning well.

  • Use the clearest water you can find.
  • Change it about every three days.
  • Rinse the tank after cleaning.
  • If it’s connected to the tap, install the filter if it’s not there already.
  • If the humidifier uses filters, change them as frequently as the manual says.
  • Try to keep the area around the device dry.
  • Check whether there are any pests around able to damage it. If there are, take measures.
  • Install it so it won’t just fall or shake.
